Joe was born Winnsboro from which he currently operates the retail propane business. Joe is married to Naomi whom he met while attending college at Louisiana Tech University where he earned a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1970. While attending Tech, he worked part time in pipeline pressure testing, oil and gas production and for the former Commercial Solvents Corp at Sterlington. This led him to a career in the oil industry where he worked as a production engineer both on and off shore in South Louisiana. Joe and his family lived abroad for several years while he worked for a consortium of international oil companies including Royal Dutch Shell and British Petroleum.
Facing a transfer to Houston, he opted to join Cordill Propane Service which was then owned and operated by Charles Cordill who founded the business in 1962. Joe became President in 1982 upon his father’s retirement and continues with the company today.
He is presently on a leave of absence while serving as Chairman of the National Propane Gas Association.
He has been active in the Louisiana Propane Gas Association since returning to the family business in 1978 and in NPGA since being named LA state director in 1993. He has held all of the officer positions in both LPGA and NPGA and chaired the Government Affairs committees in both. In addition he chaired the Marketers Section at NPGA and represented the marketers on the NPGA executive committee. His honors include being named Louisiana Dealer of the year on more than four occasions.
He is also active with various civic organizations having served as a director of he Winnsboro-Franklin Parish Chamber of Commerce and both the Ouachita Valley and Louisiana Purchase Councils of the BSA. He is a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Winnsboro and holds membership in other civic groups. He is recipient of the Business Award for support of the arts from the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council.
